Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy
Welcome Human offers a uniquely warm, thorough and outcome-focused Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy process.
Ketamine can be very effective for navigating and processing our life experiences. Officially referred to as “Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy” (KAP), ketamine has gained recognition recently for to its ability to enhance the therapeutic process, improve mood, and calm anxiety.
Ketamine is a legal, highly-regulated psychedelic substance. It is accessed only through a certified prescriber and administered according to a strict protocol.
In addition to neurochemical benefits, the gift of ketamine is its ability to help people access subcortical cognitions, which helps them integrate past events or build new neural pathways. KAP follows a fairly linear course and is much shorter in duration (about one hour) than other psychedelics. This makes KAP a very accessible treatment, especially for people with time and budget constraints.
The duration of KAP protocol varies from person to person, depending on the particular needs, desires and circumstances. One size fits one. Most sessions include live sound, which can greatly enhance the depth of the experience.
“I came to Amy extremely depressed. She told me about ketamine, which I had never heard of. It has been amazing - I have noticed a huge shift in some of my reactive patterns. I’ve come to peace with some things weighing on me. I feel more mental spaciousness. I have regained my energy and enthusiasm for life - it is not so overwhelming.”
THE welcome human KAP DIFFERENCE
Many KAP clinics can feel transactional and impersonal. The Welcome Human process feels like a warm embrace.
Welcome Human’s process is a highly thorough, nurturing and multi-stepped process.
Before each session, we focus on preparation - thoughtfully crafting intentions as well as building a “safety” guide for navigating the potential ups and downs of the experience - during and after.
The actual session takes place in a beautiful, comfortable room, and the session is curated to reflect the likes, needs and aspirations of the particular person.
A few days post-session, we meet for an integration session, during which we weave together the insights gained and decide how to best utilize what was learned going forward. The entire process is captured in a beautiful hand-crafted, discovery journal.
In contrast, most KAP treatments take place in doctors offices or medical clinics, which often have sterile and impersonal feel. In many cases individuals show up, receive the medicine, then are left alone until they are sent home. There is little to no support in terms of preparing for, or integrating, the experience, and the cost is 2-4 times more.
“Amy was the gentle guide I needed to clearly see what was getting in the way of being my best self and living my best life. Her presence helped me open my heart to things I knew in my head. The results were dramatic, and have stayed with me to this day.”
